Pt. Sudarshan Maharaj
Spiritual Leader — Sarvadeo Mandir Inc.
Pundit Sudarshan Maharaj comes from a deeply rooted lineage of spiritual leaders, being the son of Pt. Anand Maharaj and Nila Maharaj, and the grandson and great-grandson of respected Pundits from Trinidad and India. This heritage shaped his early foundation in Sanatan Dharma and continues to influence his work today.
He has been a practicing Pundit for over 12 years, officiating yagnas, samskars, and religious ceremonies across New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Trinidad and Tobago, Canada, Florida, and throughout the Caribbean. Initiated as a brahmachari at the age of five under Pt. Krishna Maharaj, he completed his first puja at ten and his first yagya at fourteen. His formal training spans Karmkand, Puranic philosophy, Vedic rituals, astrology, and scriptural studies under respected gurus, including Pt. Krishna Maharaj, Pt. Anand Maharaj, Pt. Parasram Maharaj, and Pt. Dr. Gaurinarine Maharaj.
By age sixteen, he was ordained by Sarvadeo Mandir in both Trinidad and New York. At twenty-two, he was given the title of Vyas after completing studies in multiple Mahapuranas. In 2019, he became one of the youngest Spiritual Leaders in New York State, serving at Sarvadeo Mandir, an institution founded by his great-grandfather. That same year, he was appointed Secretary General of the International Pundits Council and Director of Examinations, where he developed curriculum in Puranic studies and interfaith philosophy.
Alongside his spiritual work, Pundit Sudarshan has built a strong academic and professional background. He earned his Associate of Science degree from Queensborough Community College in 2017 and went on to complete a Bachelor's degree in Quantitative Economics and Mathematics at Queens College, with a focus on financial engineering. He later completed a Master's degree in Financial Risk Analytics, developing a deep interest in probability theory, econometrics, artificial intelligence, and numerical analysis.
In 2024, he began his role as an Economist for the federal government, where he contributes to the publication of economic indicators, official news releases, and national data analysis. His work focuses on translating complex economic data into insights that inform public understanding and policy.
By 2026, his research expanded into the rise of artificial intelligence and its impact on the U.S. economy. His work in this space led to invitations to present at major conferences, including the Society of Government Economists and the National Science Foundation's AI Day, where he shares his findings on how AI is reshaping economic structures and labor markets.
In 2024, he also founded The Modern Pundit, a platform designed to bridge the gap between traditional spiritual knowledge and the modern, innovative mindset of younger generations. The initiative focuses on making ancient philosophy relevant in today's world through education, dialogue, and critical thinking.
In 2026, he launched his technology company, TechJahaan, which focuses on building modern digital solutions. The company develops websites, integrates artificial intelligence into software systems, provides data science and analytics solutions, and engineers mobile applications and highly efficient digital infrastructures.
Pundit Sudarshan also has a strong background in philosophy, having double majored during his university studies. His work spans metaphysics, ethics, Eastern and Western philosophy, and the intersection of religion, science, and law. He has studied and analyzed texts from Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, and other world traditions, often drawing comparisons to Sanatan Dharma.
He is also the host of The Whispers of Truth, a weekly educational platform launched in 2019, where he addresses complex and often controversial topics such as artificial intelligence and religion, evolution, scriptural interpretation, and modern societal issues. The platform is known for its structured, evidence-based approach, combining scripture with logic and real-world context.
In addition to his academic and spiritual pursuits, he is trained in music, particularly in harmonium, keyboard, and piano, with experience in Indian classical, semi-classical, Sufi, and Caribbean-influenced styles.
